Four years ago I was doing a comic futurist thing in ascii art. Number 5 was about the death of MJ. When he did finally die my phone exploded with a bunch of text msgs as people on both sides of the country fired up their cell phones to let me know he had passed on.

I had already fired off a message to a 4 people letting them know he was found not breathing and they had to do CPR on him and now he was in a coma. Within a few moments what started as a breaking news blip on NPR made for an memorable grocery shopping experience.
Can't wait to see the satellite image of the faithful gathered for the vigil, funeral or memorial.

In hunting for that ascii art bit I stumbled on a lot of other pieces I have done over the years. I need to do some more. Need to get some models first. I have some ideas but need to work in a different way than I was doing it. |

EDIT: Right after I posted this I lost my internet connection. I was to be full of sads. Then My laptop said there was a wifi connection and I was no longer sads. Then I realized that even if I didn't have the generosity of who ever the Linksys's family is that I can tether my laptop to the net with my cellphone as a modem. Or if that failed I could use the internet on the cellphone itself. I love the 21st century. Here I am without my internet connection and still on the internet. Life is good. |

I was showing someone my ascii art the other day and noticed two things:
1) I haven't done much of it in the last two years.
2) Some of the stuff I did was really freaking nice. I post them when I am happy enough with them and forget about them after that. I seldom look through them and while some of it (especially the early stuff) isn't so great, even I was surprised at how nice some of it looks.

Well I didn't win the Wired ascii art contest. Some guy who a) used a pre-existing piece of art for his subject matter and b) didn't even do an ASCII drawing was the winner. Go figure that. Also of note is that they said that they wouldn't accept any computer generated stuff but it looks like at least four of the displayed results are computer generated. But at least I can say I was published on wired.com.
I need to get some money and some model consent forms. I need more inspiration. |

I have been feeling guilty about not doing enough ascii art lately. So today I had some time and had to figure out what I wanted to draw. The annoying little LED light on my Treo 650 blinked and I got the idea to draw my favorite little device ever. Just as I was putting the final touches on it I remembered that I should have drawn another butterfly to get closer to finishing that set. Also remembered that one reason I haven't done more ascii pr0n lately is I need to print up some model release forms and start pimping those again.
I have done two ascii arts that I haven't posted yet because I am waiting for the release of the music[0] they will be the cover design for before posting them.

[0] What the hell do you call music releases these days? Records are oversized vinyl disks, CD's are mid-sized shiny disks, tapes are just gone, albums are records that have outlasted tape and an EP is a type of record. If you are releasing just one song it is a 'single' but what do you call a collection of songs that are released in a world where the media isn't the medium? |

Doing some roughs for a record cover that might be coming out this season. First bit to figure out was what it should be. Second trick is to draw it. Opted for pig being walked by girl on a leash. This may or may not find itself into the final draft but was good enough to post. Still not sure if I want to do it bigger or not. Would like to draw the pig more like it was trying to get away but that will be hard to do on this small a scale.
